The most common replacement for R22 is R410A. This newer refrigerant has been used in some equipment already for several years. R410A refrigerant does not affect the ozone layer of our earth's atmosphere as R22 has. In addition to being environmentally friendly, R410A has shown other benefits including higher efficiencies and warmer air temperatures delivered form geothermal units and air-source heat pumps. Given these facts, it may be wise to ensure that any new home comfort system that you purchase uses the new R410A refrigerant.

Of all the WaterFurnace geothermal systems that we have installed in the past few years, over 95% of them utilize R410A environmentally safe refrigerant. Most of our Trane air conditioners and heat pumps use it as well.
