  1. clear the outside area around your condenser unit remove all leaves, twigs, sand and debris.
  2. take the vinyl winter cover off.
  3. check the air filter for cleanliness.
  4. change batteries in your thermostat if they haven't been done in the past year or two.
  5. Call our office for an appointment to do the Spring maintenance service. 873-2665

Now wasn't that easy? Service contract folks will be contacted by our office for an appointment. Thank you.

Air Source Heat Pumps

If you're thinking about adding or replacing as air conditioning system, you may want to consider an air source heat pump instead. Along with cooling in the summer, these heat pumps can provide a good share of your heating needs.

The majority of our annual heating hours are between 27 and 65 degrees F (outdoor temperature), which is the effective range of most air source heat pumps. Below about 27 degrees, it is more cost effective to heat with the fossil fuel furnace. Our technician will program the system to automatically operate in the most efficient mode.

An air source heat pump can pay for itself in a few short years, through energy savings. All new air conditioning and heat pump units are now required to use R410A non-ozone depleting refrigerants. New units also must meet the minimum efficiency rating of 13 SEER. It is often beneficial to invest in a higher efficiency unit to save more of your energy dollars. Higher efficiency unit may also qualify for tax credits or utility rebates, where available.

Adams Heating & Cooling would be happy to give you a quote for one of these money saving systems. We have a full line of Trane systems available, one of which may be just right for you. Call us today at 873-2665 to schedule a free estimate.

Geothermal Just Makes Cents!

Most everyone now has heard about "Geothermal." It's been around for decades but we now realize more and more the importance of its minimal energy consumption, energy dollar savings, smaller carbon footprint, higher efficiencies, green technology and eco-friendly operation. All of this terminology describes the technology of geothermal systems.

Unlike investing in the stock market the investment in a Geothermal System will pay you back and there will be no taxes on your savings. Here are the facts:

Cost of a total geo installed system
including loop for 2,200 sq. ft home.
$19,000.00
30% tax credit -$5,700.00
Annual savings over LP gas -$1,600.00
Total Savings in the 1st year alone! $7,300.00

The average stock market investment will only yield between 6-12% and an average of 8% over the long term. As you can see as investment of $19,000 for a geo will pay back $7,300 the first year and then an unbelievable average of 33% savings on fuel costs for its lifetime.

Can you do this in the stock market?

  • No taxes on the savings.
  • $800.00 app. cost of operation a year (versus $2,400.00 for LP gas)
  • $66.67 GEO average operating cost per month (compared to $200.00 GAS average operating cost per month)
  • $133.33 per month savings with geo and $1,599.96 yearly savings with geo
  • $32,000.00 lifetime of 20 years on geo WOW!

Update on Utility Rebates

Again in 2011, most electric and natural gas utilities have programs that offer rebates to their customers tat upgrade to qualifying high-efficiency heat and/or cooling systems. Each rebate program has unique qualification requirements. Each also has limited funds available for the year and when the money is gone, so are the rebates. These programs may be suspended at any time during the year. For the most up to date information, contact your gas or electric company or visit their website.

Unfortunately, the rebate program for propane and fuel oil customers that was available last year has been discontinued. Call us at Adams Heating & Cooling at 873-2665 for an estimate on a new system and we'll let you know what utility rebates may apply to the system you are considering.
